Mission

The mission of the Benedict XVI Society is to make the riches of Divine Revelation accessible to new generations and to advance the theological vision of Joseph Ratzinger / Pope Benedict XVI in service of the Church and society.

Guided by Pope Benedict XVI’s episcopal motto, Cooperatores Veritatis (“Cooperators of the Truth”), the Society promotes initiatives in spirituality, liturgy, leadership, theological formation, and innovation. Through these efforts, it seeks to foster intellectual depth, spiritual maturity, and a renewed engagement with the truth revealed in Christ.

Founded in response to Pope Benedict XVI’s expressed desire for such a society, the Benedict XVI Society seeks to preserve, deepen, and communicate his theological legacy for the benefit of future generations.

Vision

The Benedict XVI Society seeks to build an international network of scholars, clergy, educators, leaders, institutions, and benefactors committed to advancing a culture shaped by truth, faith, reason, and beauty.

At a time marked by cultural fragmentation, moral uncertainty, and a growing separation of faith from public life, the Society seeks to contribute to the renewal of Church and society through formation, scholarship, leadership, and intellectual engagement.

Its long-term vision is to form future generations capable of carrying forward the Christian intellectual tradition with confidence, responsibility, and fidelity to the Gospel.

Theological Heritage

The work of the Society is rooted in the theological legacy of Joseph Ratzinger / Pope Benedict XVI, one of the most influential Catholic thinkers of the modern era. His writings illuminate the relationship between faith and reason, Revelation and culture, truth and freedom, while offering a profound response to many of the intellectual and spiritual challenges of contemporary society.

At the heart of Benedict’s thought is the conviction that Christianity, grounded in the person of Jesus Christ, reveals both the truth about God and the truth about the human person. He consistently defended the harmony of faith and reason, the importance of the Church’s living tradition, and the responsibility of Christians to engage culture with intellectual rigor, spiritual depth, and charity.

The Benedict XVI Society seeks to preserve, study, and advance this theological heritage, making it accessible and fruitful for the life of the Church and the renewal of society.
